Tap2Order vs Sunday

Tap2Order vs Sunday: Sunday (sundayapp.com) is best known for QR pay-at-table, where guests scan, split the bill, tip and pay. Tap2Order is the better choice when the wait to order is what costs you: guests tap an NFC display or scan the QR code at the table, bar or counter, order from their own phone with no app, and the ticket lands on your kitchen display. One flat fee with no per-order commission, setup done in person in NYC, and on Growth Engine a kitchen that paces itself. Sunday fits full-service tables where the check is the bottleneck.

Or book a 15-minute call. Printed NFC and QR displays included, no hardware to buy.

Dinner guests order dessert by tapping the printed display at their table

Who should choose which

Time the two ends of service on a busy night: how long guests wait to order, and how long they wait to pay.

Where Sunday is stronger

  • Paying and splitting. You run full-service tables and the check, split and tip at the end of the meal is where tables stall.
  • POS-connected checks. On the POS systems Sunday lists, the check guests pay comes from the POS you already run.
  • Lower entry subscription, before QR code and onboarding costs, plus review prompts after payment.

Where Tap2Order fits better

  • The rush happens at ordering. Guests waving for a server, a line at the bar or counter, rounds you lose because nobody reached the table in time: bars at last call, café lines, breweries, food trucks and busy dining rooms.
  • A tap, not the camera. Each printed display offers an NFC tap as well as a QR code, programmed and placed for you in NYC by a Tap2Order team member who also trains your staff.
  • An ordering system that sells more and wastes less. On Growth Engine, the Algorithm fires each dish by its prep time so a table's food lands together, upsells and timed happy hours sell the next round, stock counts itself from every sale and waste shows up in dollars. Pro Command adds live food cost %, labor insights and up to 5 locations side by side.

Need ordering and split payment at the same tables? Ask each provider how orders and payments reach your staff and POS. There is no built-in integration between Tap2Order and Sunday. See how bars use tap-to-order

Tap2Order vs Sunday: common questions

What is Sunday?

Sunday (sundayapp.com) is a QR payment and ordering platform for restaurants. Its best-known product, sunday Pay, lets guests scan a code at the table to view the bill, split it, tip and pay with no app, which Sunday says takes about 10 seconds. It lists sites for the United States, the United Kingdom and France.

Does Sunday take orders, or only payments?

Both. Sunday describes sunday Ordering as "Guests scan, order, reorder and pay - one QR code." It is included in both the Standard and Premium plans.

Does Tap2Order offer pay at table and bill splitting?

Tap2Order's plans center on ordering. Guest card payments run through your own payment processor, set up during onboarding. Bill splitting is not listed in Tap2Order's plans, so if split checks are central to your service, raise it on a call or consider Sunday.

Which is cheaper, Tap2Order or Sunday?

On subscription, Sunday. For a 20-table venue, Sunday Standard's published costs come to $2,488 in year one ($2,388 subscription plus $100 of QR codes) before processing, which Sunday does not publish, and optional $299 physical onboarding. Tap2Order Essential Core is $3,564 in year one with the displays and in-person setup in NYC included.

Do I need to connect my POS?

Sunday's pay-at-table works with your POS. Tap2Order orders arrive in its own staff portal, so no POS replacement is needed. Custom integrations are part of Tap2Order Pro Command.
